Letterpress Note Cards - 10 different images
$18.00
This distinctive series of ten note cards has been beautifully letterpressed from early 20th century plates in the CANE Copperplate Collection. Printed on Via Vellum Cover with matching envelopes from Mohawk Fine Papers, Inc., these cards make an ideal gift that may be used for informal notes or as framed art.
Letterpress is a craft with a rich history. After the invention of movable type by Johannes Gutenberg of Mainz, Germany, around 1440, letterpress became the most successful method of printing for the next 500 years. In the middle of the 20th century, offset lithography and phototypesetting replaced letterpress as the dominant printing method. however, letterpress printing has seen a revival in recent years. There exist today letterpress printers, working mostly in small shops, whose passion and dedication is unprecedented. They produce letterpress items that are cherished forever. These prints painstakingly produced on old hand-fed presses, are highly valued for their unsurpassed quality.
